About Our Dance Instructor
Nothing is Impossible, the word itself says I'm Possible"
LoPinto (Phillips) - Owner/Artistic Director - Lehigh Valley Dance
Studio Sheri has been
dancing, since 1986 & her award winning style has earned her many trophies. She was invited to become
a member of her studio’s competition team, Inner Rhythms, when she was 10 years old (she was the youngest member on the team).
At age 11, Sheri choreographed a student choreography solo dance routine for the "I Love Dance" competition against a variety of
dance studios in the Eastern PA & New Jersey area - (Picture with Trophy to the right). This was a very large competition with
hundreds of dancers. At another competition, where there was no Student Choreography Division, Sheri took first place in Solo Dance
Division, and competed against teacher choreographed routines. Her dance teacher warned her that she may not win. To her teacher’s
surprise & delight, Sheri did win First Place in that competition, as well, which at age 11 was a very impressive testament to her natural dance
abilities. Sheri was also awarded First Place in the Improv Division, where she & other dancers picked a cassette tape out of a
box without knowing the music, they were expected to dance freely, while being judged on the spot. The following school year, Sheri
became a teacher's assistant at age 12 & continued to teach dance for Robin Gerchman at Steps in Time Studio for Dance of
Whitehall, PA, until she graduated in 2000.
Since then, Sheri has continued growing through her passion for dance by taking various classes & even instructing for a few years with a local
dance studio in the Lehigh Valley Sports Academy Complex. She has extensive training & experience in a variety of styles such as Jazz, Tap, Ballet,
Lyrical, Pointe, Contemporary, & Hip-Hop.
Sheri is an active member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO)
& is continuing her education regularly through master classes, conventions, teacher trainings, & certifications.
Over the years, Sheri has kept in touch with her childhood dance teacher Robin, who is now the Assistant Professor/Director of Dance
at Cedar Crest College. Many years ago, Robin sold her Steps in Time Studio to her partner Kathleen, who is also affiliated with
Cedar Crest College Department of Dance, as an Adjunct Professor.
Sheri has a very solid dance background, thanks to Robin Gerchman, who was extremely knowledgeable in dance expression. All of Robin's
students could perform their routines at the annual recitals, without having to follow an instructor off, OR on stage. Sheri is eternally
grateful for the opportunity she had to work with such a tremendous teacher who was able to inspire and encourage a lifelong enjoyment
of Expressive Movements through dance. In addition, Kathleen was also an influential part to Sheri’s
dance education & aided in the growth of her technical abilities. From this passion, Sheri’s vision is to pass this type of experience on in her own dance studio through
many generations to come.
